The algorithm detected the eye movements from the same dream three times in a row in as many minutes at 6 AM. The same time as yesterday. The first two audio tracks did not have an effect, but I recognized the third one right away.

I was trying to dodge COD zombies as I had run out of ammo, and was aware that it was a dream or VR the whole time, but had very little control and my movements were very laggy. I attempted to re-enter after the audio track woke me up, but was too stressed from trying to escape the horde and gave up after 15 minutes.

Triggering lucidity
I became aware of the previous song stopping abruptly. Not from the song that started in the minute above. A flurry of eye movements can be seen in the middle of the snapshot with traces of another one of those 30 second waves in the first half.

According to a team of neuroscientists at UW there are:

Neurons in the mammalian brainstem that focus exclusively on new, novel sounds, helping humans ignore ongoing, predictable sounds. The neurons are located under the cortex in a part of the brain called the inferior colliculus. These neurons provide a unique model that can be used in the future to explore some of the neural mechanisms underlying memory, prediction and selective attention.

So instead of just introducing new signals to attain lucidity, it may be worth further investigation to trigger lucidity by removing persistent signals…

REM Sleep After Ninety Minutes
The first audio track played exactly 90 minutes into the session and the movements lasted for the duration of the song. I was expecting the vocals to kick and was disappointed when they didn’t. I will have to cut them in as soon as possible. The second audio track played 65 minutes after that; six blinks can be seen in the minute above before it woke me up.

Rapid Eye Movement Chart Lucid Dream

Six blinks can be seen again before the audio track played and induced a few seconds of lucidity. Another track played an hour and twenty minutes later when the next REM phase was detected and I was able to remain airborne for almost a minute.

REM Detector
I started dreaming at 0243, became lucid at 0244 (pictured above) and removed the halograph at 0259 at the end of the dream. A very strange wave-like pattern can be seen in the hourly overview starting at 0306 and ending at 0706. This was recorded while idling on the bedpost. An earthquake, perhaps, thousands of miles from the Ring of Fire?

Lucid Dream Measurement
The track played within a minute of the onset of REM and interrupted the blinking for 30 seconds. After stopping to study the minutiae in my hands long enough to be sure, the blinking continued in the next minute during a spurt of lucidity. The brief flight that followed, albeit well under a minute, was worth all the hours that have gone into this over the years.

REM Rebound Chart
There was too much to code at the end of the night again and I logged off very late. For the third time in a row. On top of that, the first two triggers woke me up immediately – right out of the start of the dreams. It was just as though random thoughts were being blown out of proportion.

In the minute selected above you will see 13 spikes, roughly every three seconds. These are the blinks or rapid eye movements. The smaller blue spikes in between them are the heartbeat, but it is not very clear in this recording. The orange line (fREM) is when the program played the audio track.

The final REM cycle started with abnormally long / powerful blinks, which luckily slipped past the algorithm. And I had the longest dream on record; 15 minutes of non-stop rapid eye moving action. The anthem triggered at a perfect part in the dream, raining music from the heavens and a few minutes of solid lucidity at the end.

M-Band Noise
The audio track had an immediate and observable effect on my eye movements again. It took well over a minute to detect REM, however, but the onset was abnormally noisy and rapid.

I removed the halograph at 03h20 after a long dream. I want to believe that the Frequency Monitor records M Band noise when it idles.
